Drones from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office's (WCSO) Drone as First Responder (DFR) captured a man in the backyard of a nearby home on Cromwell Place.

The drone allowed for pilots and law enforcement to relay information for deputies to safely detain the suspect.

According to WCSO, a later investigation led law enforcement to believe, the identified suspect 38-year-old Ryan Davis had allegedly entered a home forcibly and moved through multiple neighboring backyards prior to being found.

Local law enforcement says deputies arrested Davis and booked him into the Washoe County Detention Facility, where he was booked on alleged charges of a felony charge of home invasion and an additional charge of trespassing.

WCSO says, "This incident highlights the outstanding coordination between patrol deputies and our DFR pilots, demonstrating how advanced aerial technology is not used for routine surveillance or to monitor lawful activity."

WCSO also says, "DFRs are deployed for specific, time-limited public safety purposes—their use allows deputies to gain real-time situational awareness before making contact, often reducing the need for force and lowering risk to both the public and responding officers."
