A Fernley man faces several charges after deputies say he threatened to run over a school district employee with his car last Friday.Â
Deputies say 47-year-old Mark Soto was arrested on Monday and had to be tased while the arrest occurred.Â
Police say last Friday, Soto got into a fight and threatened a Lyon County School District employee at Fernley Intermediate School. While he tried to pick up his child, an LCSD employee who was assigned to monitor parking lot traffic, temporarily stopped to allow school buses to pass through the lot.
That's when they say Soto started yelling at the staff member and threatened to run the employee over. Deputies say he then drove off nearly hitting the staff member with his car.
On Monday, while at the school in a conference room with school administrators, Soto became irate, according to a comment from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office on a Facebook post.
Soto was contacted by a Fernley School Resource Officer but refused to identify himself, becoming argumentative. A physical fight then broke out while the deputy finally restrained him with a TASER.
He was arrested and now faces charges of:Â
* Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Protected Person (School Employee)
* Resisting Arrest
* Disturbance of School
His bail was set at $ 26,780.
Authorities say the School Resource Deputy suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. No students were present when the fight took place, however, out of an abundance of caution the school was placed on a short lockdown while deputies responded and arrested Soto.
Once he was in custody the lockdown was lifted and the school resumed normal operations.
