Down Syndrome Network of Northern Nevada says they're unable to access $33,000.

Flipcause, an Oakland based platform set-up to provide fundraising tools for nonprofits, is being accused of defrauding the Down Syndrome Network of Northern Nevada out of nearly $33,000 dollars.

Problems reported by Down Syndrome Network and other nonprofits revolve around money collected from supporters, that Flipcause never transferred to those nonprofits.  DSNNN has been operating for the past 20 years and has worked with Flipcause for the past five.

According to Christina Ugalde, Executive Director of DSNNN, they were blindsided.

"Ya know we are just trusting that our community is going to help lift us up and get us and get us through this hard time, there's you know, there's little hope that we're going to recover any of these funds.  Flipcause owes so many non-profits, over three thousand non-profits, so much money, over twenty-nine million dollars."

The funds donated through Flipcause have been left in limbo during the bankruptcy process. Nonprofits that were affected, are encouraged to file legal complaints with the California Department of Justice and local legal authorities.

Ugalde added, "we've never had issues and up until, you know, in December they were responding to my emails saying, we're having issues with our daily transfer limits, you're in the queue to be paid, we assure you it's going to happen, we trusted them, we've used them for so long, why wouldn't we."

Down Syndrome Network of Northern Nevada filed complaints with both the California and Nevada Attorney General, hoping to track down who's behind this, and express many additional non-profits have also lost money.

After multiple attempts to reach a Flipcause representative, we have yet to receive a response.
