WRITE A BRIEF (TWO TO THREE SENTENCES) SUMMARY OF YOUR PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE THAT WOULD ENABLE YOU TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THIS OFFICE:
In my position as a member of the Nevada State Assembly (District 27), I learned how to create policy and get legislation passed. I was successful in passing five of six bills, all of which received bi-partisan support. In my occupation, I consult, coach and train organizations on leadership, team building and organizational culture, all of which contributed greatly to my success in the legislature.
WHAT IS YOUR TOP PRIORITY IF ELECTED?
I have three: Improving public education, increasing access and affordability of healthcare (which includes women’s reproductive care and lowering the cost of prescription drugs) and affordable housing.
IN JUST A FEW SENTENCES: WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM FACING OUR STATE, AND HOW WOULD YOU FIX IT?
The lack of affordable housing. There are a few things that can be done at the State level to help Nevadans struggling with this. Making it more difficult (if not impossible) for corporate landlords to buy up inventory and jack up prices can be one approach. Another can be putting a limit on the percentage that rent can be increased at one time; especially for our most vulnerable citizens. Incentivizing developers to build more affordable housing is another tactic that would have an impact.
IN ONE SENTENCE: WHAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING VOTERS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I believe that our number one job as legislators is to make things better for the people of our great state.
YES OR NO: WILL YOU ACCEPT THE RESULTS OF THIS ELECTION, WHETHER YOU WIN OR LOSE?
Yes
