Today is the day - the 33rd annual Share Your Christmas Drive-by Food Drive is now underway.

You can help make a difference in our communities by helping to feed families facing hunger by donating either non-perishable food items, money, or both at one of our FOUR donation locations, which are located throughout the region on Friday, December 12, from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.

We hope you can come out and give; every little bit counts!

Although the Food Bank of Northern Nevada is at the helm of this event and provides for all locations, each of the four individual donation locations collects donations in the name of a specific charity, who are partner agencies of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

Raley's Fernley grocery store will be collecting donations for Living Faith Christian Fellowship, St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, and Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe Food Pantries.

Living Faith Christian Fellowship, in partnership with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, provides food to those in need in the Fernley community through a mobile harvest that distributes food via a drive-through distribution on the second Friday of each month from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

According to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, its Mobile Harvest programs, such as its partnership with Living Faith Christian Fellowship, provide access to nutritious, healthful produce and other fresh food items to people in need.

St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, in partnership with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, provides food to those in need in the Fernley community through a mobile harvest that distributes food via a drive-through distribution every week on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Parish says the food pantry provides quality food items to households experiencing food insecurity. Their program supplies critical nutrition to hungry individuals and families in the form of food to meet basic nutritional needs.

Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe Food Pantries program offers two food assistance services: a free community food pantry, open to anyone 18 or older, on or off the reservation, tribal or non-tribal, with no income restrictions, and a commodities program that follows specific eligibility guidelines available on their website. Both programs serve the communities of Nixon, Sutcliffe, and Wadsworth, as well as surrounding areas, and require an appointment for pick-up through the lobby or during scheduled distribution events.

In an online post, The Pyramid Lake Food Distribution posted their annual impact reports from the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, comparing the years 2023 and 2024.

The post says that in 2023, they distributed 112,116 pounds of food, of which 12% of that total was from fresh produce, throughout the Pyramid Paiute Reservation and other surrounding communities, totaling 1,180 households and a total of 3,498 people that were provided with food.

In 2024, they almost tripled the number of people they fed by distributing 439,505.17 pounds of food, of which 47% of that overall total was from fresh produce, throughout the Pyramid Paiute Reservation and other surrounding communities. In 2024, they were able to serve 2,912 households and a total of  8,250 people with food.

The Pyramid Lake Food Distribution says that offering the community fresh produce is always their top priority, and to see that they had tripled their efforts over a year made them very proud.

They further explained that these total numbers did not even reflect the donations and the food/non-food items they had generously received from Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada & the St. Vincent's Programs.
