You don't have to go to the grocery store to be able to make a nice home cooked meal.

For three years Our Local Basket has partnered with the area’s farms, ranches, chefs, butchers and more to bring local food to your doorstep.

The local organization provides weekly meals that highlight locally sourced ingredients such as grass-fed beef, heritage pork and fresh greens.

The owner of Our Local Basket, Christie Braun owns a pig farm in Washoe Valley that provides pork products for the small business. Braun and her family have owned the farm for five years, however she says farming is in her. blood.

"My parents were cattle ranchers. My dad's dad was a cattle rancher. My mom's mom came from a farm in Michigan. We have a long line and many generations of ranchers and farmers right in our family," said Braun.

Although, Our Local Basket partners with many area resources, the small business is run by a total of three people. Christie Braun, her Husband Dusty Braun, and one of their close friends puts orders together and they also do deliveries themselves.

Braun also says since the pandemic, they've been seeing an influx of orders.

"Our prayer was that we could help people and that is what has happened. We have... oh my gosh... probably four times the business we had before." said Braun.

Braun also says her team of three will will continue to work hard to meet the the high demand.
