The City of Reno's Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for the summer bringing the community new activities, a new playground and much more.
On Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the City of Reno Parks and Recreation Department will launch its Summer Party at Teglia's Paradise Park, located at 2745 Elementary Drive.
The state-of-the art playground, the newest in the City, is the backdrop for this event.
It has undergone a nearly $2 million renovation, since the fall of 2022 and will be the kick off to the summer.
The newly renovated park's most noticeable change will be the Ninja Warrior fitness course, ziplines, and other standard playground equipment.
A new addition that will also be introduced is the "Rolling Recreation" trailer.
A trailer that offers park attendees several different type of indoor/outdoor activities including: yard games, basketball, football, table tennis, cornhole, glow in the dark night games, telescopes, Nerf guns, Jenga, dodgeballs, video games and more.
The trailer will visit each ward, twice per month.
Calling all Rangers! The City is launching a new program called "Junior Rangers" that will now be available to the younger kids in the community.
The program encourages kids to explore, learn, and visit city parks while learning about ecology, sustainability, orienteering and more all with the help of a free kid-friendly guide.
The guide can be picked up at all recreation centers or downloaded by CLICKING HERE.
What else is new, you ask? A pool! The City is excited to open up their new Moana Springs Community and Fitness Center later this summer.
"Summer is all about being outside and making memories," said our Parks Director Nathan Ulloyt. "We have something for everybody this year, and we are excited to get it started on June 1."
