Humboldt County says its recent emergency water conservation plan is now rescinded after repairs were completed on Well 2 in the Gold Country Water System.

All outdoor water use can now resume.

"We are pleased to report that the necessary repairs to Well 2 have been successfully completed, and the water systems have resumed normal operating capacity. System pressure has stabilized, and the emergency interconnection between the Gold Country and Star City systems will be turned off until future needs arise," the county said in a Facebook post.

Water order lifted in Humboldt County

JUNE 20, 2025:

Humboldt County Public Works has implemented an emergency water conservation plan for both the Gold Country and Star City Water Systems.

The county says Well 2 in Gold Country has failed and therefore reduced the water system’s ability to supply high flow water and fill the tank with safe drinking water. The emergency inter tie between Gold Country and Star City systems has been opened to help maintain pressure and basic water flows.

Effective immediately, the county all outdoor water use is prohibited.

Water for toilets, indoor faucets, and swamp coolers may still be used unless further system pressure decreases occur and Public Works notify you that all water will be shut off. The county says the goal is to reduce water consumption to winter levels so basic water pressure and use can be maintained. If not adhered to, a full system shutdown will occur.

As repairs are being scheduled and completed, water use will be reduced to winter levels. Repairs are scheduled to occur in the next 3-5 days.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

1. All OUTDOOR WATER USE IS PROHIBITED

2. ALL RECREATIONAL WATER USE IS PROHIBITED

3. SWAMP COOLERS ALLOWED

4. TOILET WATER ALLOWED

5. INDOOR FAUCET USE ALLOWED

6. BOTTLED WATER WILL BE SUPPLIED AT NO COST TO CUSTOMERS AT 6225 NUGGET DRIVE.

7. Enforcement - Customers violating the emergency conservation plan will have meters shut off.
