Last week, Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen visited Israel in response to the October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks.
Rosen was part of a delegation of Senators from both parties, and they met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and families whose loved ones were killed and taken hostage by Hamas. Senator Rosen, who happens to be the only Jewish woman and Jewish mother in the U.S. Senate, expressed how heartbreaking it was to meet with the families
"Meeting with those parents whose children were ripped away from them by terrorists, hearing those stories, seeing the fear and pain in their eyes, feeling their heartbreak," recounted (D-NV) Senator Jacky Rosen.Â
Rosen is echoing President Biden's call for supplemental military funding for Israel as well as hundreds of millions in humanitarian aid for innocent Palestinian civilians living in Gaza.
"Now is the time for decisive bipartisan action to help Israel," stated Rosen.
Meanwhile in the United States, there have been protests organized by pro-Palestine groups in major cities, urging for an immediate ceasefire from Israel.
Despite the rising tensions at home, Rosen believes that it is crucial for Americans to stand unified against Hamas.
"In this moment where Hamas is terrorizing not only their own civilians as they use them as human shields, as they siphon off this humanitarian aid, not to build hospitals or schools, but to build tunnels and missiles. We need to be sure that we root out terrorism and every single one of us can stand tall against terrorism," said Rosen.
Last year, Senator Jacky Rosen led a bipartisan task force of more than 125 members of congress to establish a national interagency strategy to combat antisemitism in the United States.Â
