From an incident that happened back on April 2, 2024, a man has now been convicted after being involved in domestic violence.
Sparks Police arrived at an apartment complex after a family friend reported that they had received a text message from a friend saying that she had been physically abused by her fiancé.
According to authorities, when the officers arrived on scene, the fiancé then opened the door and gave the police consent to search the apartment.
According to authorities, they found the victim in the bedroom, she had injuries, including severe red, purple, and yellow bruising around her right eye and a cut on the bridge of her nose, and additional bruising below her left eye.
After officers interviewed the woman, she said the incident had happened four days before, while both of them were intoxicated.
During another interview by the officers on scene, the fiancé also admitted getting angry and possibly punching her.
Officers then eventually booked the Defendant into the Washoe County Detention Facility, after determining the injuries were enough evidence.
On October 15, 2025, Senior Assistant City Attorney Ana Swanson represented the City of Sparks and secured a conviction for Domestic Battery against the Defendant, according to city officials.
The fiancé was sentenced to 30 days in the Washoe County Jail.
The sentence may be lifted, depending on if he completes two active days in jail or completes 48 hours of community service, pays a $200 fine plus administrative assessments, and pays a $35 domestic violence fee.
Officials also says he has to complete 26 weeks of domestic violence classes, refrain from contact with the victim, and obey all laws, according to Officials.
