Sparks Police say they are investigating vandalism that appeared overnight outside the Sparks City Hall building on Prater Way.

Several walls were covered with bright red paint with words like ‘no justice.’

The vandalism comes the same week that protesters spoke out in front of city hall - and called in to the city council's meeting calling for reform and defunding of the police.

Sparks Mayor Ron Smith defended officers during Monday's meeting.

"I think the bottom line is, if a police officer pulls you over, follow his instructions. If you pull a gun on a police officer, expect repercussions, whatever they may be. I stand behind our police department, I stand behind the chief and everybody that works there. I'm proud of them."
