Tuesday is the Nevada Primary Election. Several months ago, the Nevada Secretary of State's Office encouraged residents to vote by mail - they've received about 300,000 ballots so far and say things are going smoothly.
Washoe County Registrar of Voters held a press conference to discuss the process and their current turnout.
"So far our turnout has been around 58,000 voters -- that includes both mail-in and early voting. That's about a 20% turnout so far, the majority of that is mail-in ballots," says Deanna Spikula with the Washoe County Registrar of Voters.
She says they've received more mail-in ballots than normal for the county this election.
Spikula says the process is running smoothly, however slight challenges still occur, such as damaged ballots or incorrect signatures.
"We've only seen a handful of ballots that came to us damaged. We've been able to recreate 100% of those ballots and get those cast. Other issues that we find if spouses sign each others envelopes, or if somebody else will sign the envelope," says Spikula.
If your ballot had any problems, she says you would have been contacted.
If you haven't received a ballot or you still need to register to vote, you have options.
You can fill out a ballot in person at the Washoe County Registrar Voters Office during regular business hours, or you can register to vote and vote in person on election day.
