The 2024 presidential election has the potential to be the most litigated in American history.
Both campaigns are preparing for potential legal battles in key swing states following the election.
Lawyers will be monitoring polling stations to gather evidence of voter fraud and any irregularities that may occur.
According to Trump Campaign National Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, they will have lawyers stationed at polling locations across the country.
"The RNC and our campaign have launched the largest election integrity program of any campaign in history," said Trump campaign National Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt.
Republican-aligned groups have filed 90 lawsuits in key swing states to prepare for legal challenges.
In 2020, all GOP challenges were dismissed except one, which is why the Trump campaign is hiring top lawyers to lead its election integrity program this cycle.
"We are going to have hundreds of thousands of lawyers, poll watchers, and challengers on the ground in key battleground states and counties across the country tomorrow who will be looking out for irregularities and fraud," said Karoline Leavitt.
The Harris-Walz campaign provided the following response:
"Advisors to Kamala Harris say have hundreds of lawyers ready to protect election results against any challenge that Trump might bring. We will not let Trump denigrate the election or our institutions with his invariable attempts to create and doubt," wrote Harris Senior Advisor and Outside Counsel Dana Ramus.
Additionally, the Trump campaign says it's fighting to protect the ballots of every voter, regardless of party affiliation.
"This is what happened, for instance, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where voters were told they had to go home. That was against their rights. We filed a lawsuit and won that lawsuit," said Leavitt.
History professor and Vote Nevada executive director Sondra Cosgrove says the Trump campaign's efforts in 2020 were mostly fruitless because of the lack of evidence.
"So, the same thing needs to be asked this time: if lawyers are going to show up, and they're going to want to file a lawsuit, can they prove a crime has been committed? If something is not transparent enough," said Vote Nevada Executive Director and College of Southern Nevada history professor Dr. Sondra Cosgrove.
However, both campaigns could have been more prepared in 2020.
Democrats have also spent the past four years building a team of lawyers to handle whatever legal challenges may arise this cycle.
And in the last election, lawyers for the trump campaign lost their license for filing fraudulent suits.
Many of us think you can file as many lawsuits as you want. It doesn't matter if you win, but the courts can't be abused," said Cosgrove.
One positive outcome from all of this is that more Americans are actively engaging in understanding the election process. I contacted the Harris campaign but am still waiting to receive a response.
Washoe County has reported the presence of lawyers at polling locations since mid-October.
"They might be in a political party or just here on their own time because they're very interested in election law. Frankly, election law is not as cut and dry as you think it is," said Washoe County Media Production Specialist George Guthrie.
