Washoe County Library Director Jeff Scott voluntarily resigned from his position Wednesday night.
It happened just before the Library Board of Trustees was supposed to evaluate his performance.
Leading up to the meeting, trustees took a survey to rate Scott's performance -- and the results were not positive. Most indicated that they think Scott's work as director has been minimally effective.
Some also left divisive comments on both sides saying Scott has been passive-aggressive and difficult to work with - others saying he's engaged and competent.
Now, again, Scott voluntarily resigned before his performance evaluation even happened.
All this comes as county libraries have lost the assurance of what used to be a dedicated funding source after voters turned down a 2024 ballot question to renew an existing property tax that would have been earmarked for renovations and a new North Valleys Library.
Scott has also personally come under fire after the library hosted drag queen story hour.
In 2024 - the library had to cancel similar programs due to protester violence.
