April is National Donate Life Month  and donor networks across the country are reaching out to their communities, asking people to think about becoming organ donors.  Locally, Donor Network West has been airing a campaign that's getting a lot of airtime this month.  The message - one that uses local talent and no words - is that every donor can save eight lives.
"A lot of commercials, people just walk by. Â People aren't walking by this one," said Cathy Koubek of Donor Network West. "There's no sound, it's just the music and you realize the people in the commercial are disappearing because they are one of the eight that didn't get transplanted."
Â
The Network says they've seen a lot of traffic on their website this month, one of the places you can sign up to be an organ donor, along with the DMV. Â More than 600 Nevadans are waiting for an organ transplant. Â The odds for finding a possible match go up, the more people that sign up for the registry.
 Â
"Less than one percent of all deaths can be an organ donor, so the opportunity is pretty slim," Koubek said. Â "So more and more people need to register."
123,000 people across the country are waiting for organ transplants and the hope is campaigns like these will make people think about that choice.
"It really empowers you to make a decision, and it makes it your choice," Koubek said.
