Washoe County Library System announced it is once again extending its suspension of grab-and-go and drive-up hold pick-up services until January 19, 2021. This is 15 days later than the suspension was supposed to end.Â
The library says the extension is in response to the rise in COVID-19 cases and rise in hospitalizations in Washoe County.Â
Library Director Jeff Scott issued a statement on the suspension saying he is proud of how Washoe County Library staff have responded despite the challenges of 2020. "Throughout the crisis, staff have demonstrated creativity and dedication to the community, whether through library services or in their efforts to provide needed PPE during the early months of COVID-19 and to assist with contact tracing," Scott continued.Â
Book drops will remain open but no overdue items will be fined. The library will continue to provide virtual services for early literacy activities, educational enrichment and recreational reading for all. The library's digital collection is still available.Â
The Washoe County Library System encourages the community to sign up for their newsletter and follow them on social media for any additional updates.Â
