A University of Nevada, Reno student has died after he fell down the stairs at the Sigma Nu fraternity house earlier this month.
Ryan Abele was a freshman at the university.
On Thursday the website set up to fundraise for Ryan’s recovering wrote, “It's with heavy hearts that Ryan went to his forever home today to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ. We want to thank you for the outpouring love, prayers and support everyone has shown during this time.”
An outpouring of sympathy and support can be found on various social media sites including Facebook and the GoFundMe page set up for Ryan.
After the original incident, the University of Nevada, Reno wrote that it extended “its sympathy and support to the friends and family” of Ryan Abele.
The University and local police began investigating the incident.
The University has temporarily withdrawn recognition of the Delta XI chapter of Sigma Nu fraternity and as a result, the fraternity is currently not allowed to operate as an organization on campus. Sigma Nu’s national organization is also investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident

University officials say that any students affected by the incident can call the Office of the Associate Dean at 775-682-6846.
