AG Garland Names Special Counsel to Lead Trump-related Probes

Attorney General Merrick Garland has named a special counsel to oversee the Justice Department’s investigation into the presence of classified documents at former President Donald Trump’s Florida estate.

The move Friday was announced just three days after Trump announced his 2024 candidacy.
Documents with classified markings were discovered in former Vice President Mike Pence’s home last week, according to his attorney.
The case is a milestone for a Justice Department that had investigated Trump for years - as president and private citizen.Â
