California Attorney General comments on birthright lawsuit

Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the state would join a lawsuit in the wake of an executive order by President Trump seeking to end birthright citizenship.

The U.S. is among about 30 countries where birthright citizenship — the principle of jus soli, or 'right of the soil' - is applied.Â
The judge announced his decision Thursday after an hour-long hearing and said a written order will follow.
