The Washoe County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the two men killed in a shooting on Staci Way near Merritt Court in Sun Valley late Sunday night.
Deputies say 38-year-old Benjamin Guerrero of Sun Valley, and 35-year-old Ruben Torres also of Sun Valley were killed in the shooting, which was first reported around 10:20 p.m. Sunday.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
No arrests have been made. However, investigators believe there are no outstanding suspects.
Bob Harmon, Washoe County Sheriff's Office PIO, says a male and female went to a couple's home in Sun Valley and for unknown reasons a confrontation then spilled out into the street.
"As part of that confrontation, shots were exchanged," Harmon said.
"We heard boom, boom, boom, boom, boom and then my oldest grandson told everybody to get down," Charlotte Carson, one victim's neighbor said. "I screamed 'Everybody get down,' then we heard the second round. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom."
The resident of the home died in front of his mailbox while the other was transported to the hospital and later died.Â
One female involved in the incident is cooperating with investigators.
Bullets struck nearby cars and multiple homes. Tom Moon lives next door. He woke up to the gunshots and went back to sleep, not knowing that two bullets hit his house.
"About five minutes later, there were flashlights around my house and an officer knocked on my door and wanted to know if everybody in here was okay and I said yes," Moon said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detective Division at 775-328-3320 or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.
