The fall like weather moved in quickly after a hot August. In fact, it was the third hottest August on record in Reno since records began 132 years ago, with an average temperature of 78.7 degrees. The average temperature takes into account both the high and low for the day and averages the two.
Not only was it hot during the day in Reno, but also at night. Our nights are usually comfortable, even during the summer, but we broke a couple records this past month for overnight lows as well. We had the warmest average low on record of 63.4 degrees, when normal is 58.1 degrees. This puts us 5.3 degrees above normal for the month. We also broke the all time August record for overnight lows with a temperature of 77 degrees.

The average low for June is nearly 54 degrees, July is 60 degrees, and August is roughly 58. By September the average low is 50 degrees for the entire month. For September 4th, the average low is a little warmer at 54 degrees. Clouds are keeping temperatures from really tanking lately. While afternoon highs have been roughly fifteen degrees below average, lows have been in the 50’s since the beginning of the month.
