City Clarifies Report on Star Spangled Sparks Daytime Events

There are several area locations to watch fireworks shows this holiday weekend. 

Star Spangled Sparks is scheduled to start at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday. If you don't want to deal with the traffic, you can park at Legends, and take a shuttle to Victorian Square starting Saturday afternoon. 

The Reno Aces will hold a fireworks show on Saturday and Sunday. The Aces host the Sacramento Bees Saturday at 6:35 p.m. and Sunday at 6:05 p.m. at Aces Ballpark in downtown Reno. KTVN is presenting a 'Kids Run the Bases' event also both days, as part of the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa Independence Day Weekend Celebration.

There is also a fireworks show at Wingfield Park for Artown on Saturday, with a concert beforehand at 7:30 p.m. 

Virginia City will hold a fireworks shows after dark at Miner's Park located at Carson and F Streets on Saturday.

The Kings Beach Fireworks and Beach Party will include a fireworks show on Friday, July 3rd starting at 9:30 p.m. Admission is free and preferred fireworks seating is available for $15.

Incline Village will host a Red, White and Tahoe Blue festival this weekend with a fireworks show on Saturday starting at 6 p.m.  

And as a reminder, no fireworks are allowed on BLM managed public lands. Fireworks are also illegal within Reno city limits, Washoe County including Sparks, and the Lake Tahoe Basin.

About 10,000 people are treated in hospital emergency rooms for fireworks-related injuries every year; 40% of those injuries are to children aged 15 years or under. More than half of ER-fireworks injuries are burns, and eyes are the most commonly injured body part.    

Fireworks cause about 25,000 fires each year, resulting in $39 million in reported property damage (estimated 1,800 structure fires and 700 vehicle fires).
