A man is now in custody after a car chase in Sparks.
Police say Johnny Felix Velasquez was waving a gun around at people along 18th Street around 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
When officers arrived, they say Velasquez sped off -- leading to multiple crashes throughout Reno.
They say the empty Jeep was later found near North Wells Avenue and I-80.
About an hour later, Sparks Police say they found Velasquez after he tried to outrun them near Rail City Casino.
After he received some medical attention, Velasquez was transported to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office where he was booked on the following charges:
- Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Felony)
- Eluding x 2 (Felony)
- Reckless Driving 2nd (Misdemeanor)
- Resisting a Public Officer (Misdemeanor)
- Intimidating a Public Officer (Felony)
Besides Sparks, police say additional charges are pending from the Reno Police Department.
