The season of giving isn't stopping on East 4th Street. For the first time, businesses in the area teamed up to bring Reno an event they called "Warm Drinks 4 Warm Hearts."

The event was held on Saturday. For 15 dollars participants received a cup and card that allowed them to enjoy a warm winter drink at seven different bars, taprooms, and coffee shops in the growing Reno Brewery District. Organizers of the event say the best part about the event is that a portion of the proceeds from each drink card will go to providing donations for meals to the local homeless shelters.

Will Truce, the co-owner of Black Rabbit Mead Company said, "the history of 4th Street is a rich one, you could say. And it's certainly going through an incredible revitalization right now, with all of the small businesses coming to the area that are focusing on creativity and industry, but also on compassion as well." Truce continued to say, "As we grow as a neighborhood that becomes more fun and exciting to be in, we really want to make sure that our neighborhood also remains a home for services and the peoples that really need it."

On top of helping out the community, organizers of the event are proud to say that all of the special drinks served on Saturday are hand-crafted, and it allows people in Reno to explore the diversity 4th Street businesses have to offer.

"These are drinks that these folks have put a lot of heart and soul into, to make delicious. Our neighborhood has really 10 craft alcohol makers within a block from each other. And these are folks that really know how to do alcohol right. And a lot of them are local folks and locally sourced ingredients. And outside of those places we got bars and coffee shops that are really trying to make drinks with integrity." said Truce.

Cameron Shane, a local who participated in the event said he likes going to 4th Street and notices the growing community there.

"I think Reno has such a cool hip fun bar scene and I think this adds some needed diversity. So I think it's cool, I think it's fantastic." said Shane.

Truce says the businesses in the area hope to bring more events like Warm Drinks 4 Warm Hearts in the future.

Participating locations included:  Black Rabbit Meads, The Jesse Hotel & Bar/Estella Reno, Forged Coffee, Nevada Sunset Winery, Lead Dog Brewing, Abby's Highway 40, Ferino Distillery, and Pitch Black Printing.
