"He was a friend. He was a good guy," said Miguel Villareal, the neighbor of the man who was shot and killed by police Sunday on Grove Street.

"We've gone riding before," he said.

The shooter's Harley motorcycle now sits charred in the garage.

Villarreal is still shocked after his neighbor and friend, Matt, allegedly shot two other neighbors Sunday afternoon. Miguel heard several shots, then scream coming from outside. He walked towards the scene.

"He(Matt) just stood there. He didn't say nothin'."

He found Matt, gun in hand, standing in the back of his property.

"I asked him, "What was going on?'"

Villarreal never got an answer.

Police approached.

"Did he point his gun, from what you could tell at the officers?" I asked.

"No," he told us. "Not at all. He had on his side, holding it down."

"And you had a clean view?"

"I was 15 feet or 20 feet from them," he said.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office says the suspect reportedly confronted the Reno Police Officers.

They fired.

"I was telling them, don't shoot," he remembered. "And they shot him. He fell to his knees, before falling face down."

In the heat of it all, Matt gave his neighbor a look.

"I'll never forget it," said Villarreal. "I hate to say desperate. But it's like all the hope was gone. All the life was out of his eyes before he got shot."

Matt was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The Washoe County Cornor's Office will release the exact cause of death.
