Ralph is a one-year-old American Staff mix who was found stray by SPCA's partner shelter in Fallon.
He was transferred to their adoption center where they have been working closely with Ralph to help him build confidence while he waits for a loving home!
Ralph was extremely shy and nervous when he first arrived at the adoption center.
However, over the last few weeks he has truly blossomed into a more confident, sweet, affectionate dog.
He has learned a few tricks including sit and shake! He also enjoys going for walks and exploring new smells. Get close and he might just give you a kiss!
Ralph has hip dysplasia, a common hereditary condition among large breed dogs that results in the abnormal development of the hips.
This means Ralph will need a little bit of extra care and attention including weight management, regular moderate exercise to keep the joints healthy, and regular visits to the vet to keep an eye on things.
While Ralph is not in any pain now, there is a chance he may need additional supplementation or medication as he ages.
Ralph is still shy around new dogs so it's best to take it slow when introducing him to other canines.
He would do best in a home with no other dogs or a calm dog that can help him build confidence!
Ralph would thrive with kids at least 12 years old and cannot go home with cats.
