Once again, Artown is bringing travelers into Reno for a month of music, dance and culture.
Artown Director, Beth Macmillan, says businesses across the city are reaping the benefits of hosting a local summer arts festival.
“Arts are becoming a priority in this community,” says Macmillan.
Macmillan says many organizations see a boost in business because of an increase in tourism during the month long arts event.
“Most of our events in Wingfield Park are free, so that enables people to go and spend their money in restaurants or go to the museum or go to the aces ballpark game, go to a movie," says Macmillan.
This year more than 500 events are being produced during Artown by more than 100 organizations across the city.
Macmillan says these companies involved, are encouraged to use Artown as a launching pad for business for the rest of the year.
“Do what you do in July to introduce new people in the community to your company, your organization and then garner new audience members," says Macmillan.
