Two groups of protesters gathered in Carson City Saturday morning.
One in support of Black Lives Matter movement and the other in support of the Blue Lives Matter movement.
"Personally I think we're here to help people who have just been oppressed. Ya'll over there have had it way easier than everybody else, I've had it way easier than everybody else, and if you don't see that now... I just don't understand," says Noah Thew, Organizer of BLM Protest in Carson City.
"I think it's really important that in order to build a bridge to understanding and progression we need to understand both sides to build that foundation," says Samantha Linnenbrink, supporting Blue Lives Matter.
Although they disagree with each other on some issues, everyone we spoke to agrees George Floyd's death was unacceptable.
But Blue Lives Matter protesters say we can't discredit our officers who always do the right thing.
"We can't castigate our police departments because of one or two bad cops," says Phyliss Degross, Organizer of Blue Lives Matter Protest in Carson City.
The Black Lives Matter protesters agree with this sentiment, but they want everyone to be aware of injustices the black community faces.
"The fact is my house isn't on fire, their house isn't on fire. Black people's houses are on fire, and I think that's what it comes down too. Is realizing they need help more than anybody else," says Thew.
