College System Ends Health Workforce Development Program

On Friday, the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents held a meeting to discuss to finding a new Chancellor.

The previous Chancellor, Dan Klaich, retired early in May 2016. Klaich was accused of misleading the Legislature about a relationship between his staff and a consultant that happened in 2012 while they were working on a new formula for distributing money among colleges. Klaich said that this issue had become a distraction and he requested early retirement. His request was approved and John White was soon after named acting Chancellor.

The Board discussed the hiring of a search consultant to draft the job description and begin the nationwide search for Chancellor candidates. No potential nominees were mentioned in the meeting.

When asked if acting Chancellor John White might be considering the position, a board member revealed that his contract included a clause excluding him from applying for the permanent position.
