Reno is used to high stakes card games, but this week a different kind of card game is taking center stage and Reno will make out better than any of the winners, financially.
The American Contract Bridge League is holding its National Championship Tournament here. That's brought thousands of players from across the country and from 20 other countries as well.
"We have about 5,000-7,000 players taking part," said Darbi Padbury, Director of Marketing for the group. "They are competing for Master Points, not money. No money at all, it's all about the points and getting to the next level of play."
The group ranges from teenagers to seniors and they are all fixated on the skill it takes to play.
"It's the best game ever!" said Cecily Kohler from Washington, D.C. "It keeps your mind alert and makes you think and you meet people from all over the country and all over the world!"
"It's a game that's all about math and reasoning and statistics and logic," added Padbury.
And the thousands of players here are everywhere!
"We have players in the ballrooms and the conference rooms and the conventions centers," said Rick Murdock with the Silver Legacy which is serving as the host hotel. "And they're also in our restaurants and seeing the area and taking trips to (Lake) Tahoe. It's just a great week for the entire region!"
They'll be here through the weekend.
