2 Injured in Helicopter Crash

Officials with Cal Fire say a pilot was killed in a helicopter crash on Wednesday morning.

They said it crashed while fighting a wildfire in western Fresno County.

Officials said the Bell UH-1H helicopter was on a water dropping mission on the Hills Fire, around nine miles south of the city of Coalinga.

They said air and ground resources responded immediately to the crash site.

They said the Fresno County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team was requested to the area of South Lost Hills Road and Sutter Avenue in Coalinga.

Officials said the pilot was the only person aboard the helicopter and did not survive the crash.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation and Cal Fire is assisting.
