UPDATE: The driver who died in Wednesday's tanker accident has been identified.
46-year-old Gregory Brown of Oakland, California passed away either as a result of the chemical released from the crash or from the collision itself, California Highway Patrol reports.
Caltrans says Highway 88 is back open after a fatal semi-truck crash near Woodfords late Wednesday morning. Â
The semi-truck's tank was filled with a bleach solution and lost most of its load in the incident, just after 10 a.m.
Eric Laughlin of Cal Fish and Wildlife said some of the solution made it into the Carson River. Scientists on scene couldn't identify any effect on wildlife so they assume the solution got diluted in the water.
People were asked to shelter in place, but that request is now done.Â
Authorities say the driver was speeding, when somehow the truck became airborne and hit the side of the road.Â
The driver's name hasn't been released.Â
No other cars were involved in the crash.Â
