The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) says there are several US 395 closures at this time.
They said US 395 is closed northbound and southbound from SR 120 West to SR 158 South due to a multiple vehicle crash. They don't have an estimated time for reopen.
Caltrans also said US 395 is closed to high profile vehicles from Bishop, north to the California/Nevada state line due to high winds.
Caltrans says US 395 from SR 203 in Mammoth Lakes to Lee Vining is now closed due to heavy snow and white out conditions. There is no estimated time for reopen.
They want to remind residents of some winter driving tips:
- Always carry chains
- Keep a full tank of gas
- Carry blankets, water, food, a shovel, gloves, a flashlight and sand or kitty litter to provide traction in case your vehicle gets stuck
- Slow down
- Proceed with caution
