According to the Metro Fire Public Information Officer, a Care Flight helicopter had to make an emergency landing this evening due to smoke in the helicopter.
They say that around 5:35 p.m. the helicopter was transporting a toddler with non life-threatening injuries to UC Davis when the pilot made an emergency landing in a field near 10424 Investment Circle in Rancho Cordova, east of Sacramento.
No one was injured in the landing and the child was transported by the Metro Fire UCD.
Just before 6:00 p.m., Metro Fire tweeted that the helicopter mechanic determined that the A/C fan belt was the cause of the smoke and that helicopter should be taking off again soon. Metro Fire says that this specific helicopter is Care Flight 2, out of Gardnerville.
