After eight months, construction on Carson Street is finally over!
Carson City first broke ground on the $10-million project back in March.
If your commute takes you this way - it probably seems like forever since they began. But construction actually finished ahead of schedule.
To celebrate city officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony in front of the capitol building Friday afternoon.
Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell spoke to a crowd of people who braved the rain about how visions from decades ago are finally coming to fruition - and Senator Dean Heller spoke on how the construction was all a part of making Carson City a place to drive to not just through.
"That was the early seventies, so about 45-50 years later you're now seeing what the face of the state capitol is gonna look like and it's right here,” says Mayor Crowell.
"I think the words are, 'If you build it... they will come.' And take a look at this crowd here today!" says Sen. Heller, (R) Nevada.
And it's all happening just in time for the Nevada Day Parade in less than 24 hours!
