Senior citizens in Douglas County can learn more about law enforcement during an academy all this week.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Douglas County TRIAD are presenting this year's Senior Citizen's Law Enforcement Academy scheduled September 10th through the 14th, 2018.
The goal of the Academy is to provide crime fighting educational programs for senior citizens of Douglas County.
Senior citizens will learn general law enforcement education and will be able to stay updated on what's going on in the community.
The goal is to have attendees become more aware and comfortable with law enforcement services, law enforcement officers and responses from the department and Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Ron Piernini says he knows the importance of keeping seniors in the know and including them in being a part of the solution, and keeping our community safe.
Registration is now being accepted for student interested om attending the academy.
Students must be at least 50 years of age and residents of Douglas County.
Information on volunteer opportunities and crime prevention methods, along with recent scam information will be a part of the curriculum.
The week long event starts Monday, September 10th through Friday September 14th starting at 1:00 p.m. through 5:00 p.m. each day.
The class is held at the Minden Judicial Center located at 1038 Buckeye Road, Minden.
