The Reno Police Department says crews responded to a traffic pole on fire on I-580 near Mill Street on Friday evening.

Officials said a driver hit the pole, which set the transformer on fire, and then the pole ignited after that.

They said the fire is out now and there were no injuries.

Officials said the driver remained on scene and drugs or alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.

They said NV Energy is there assessing the scene. 

Officials said the roads are closed in the area and the on ramp to I-580 from Mill Street is closed at this time.

Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes.
