Enrollment Begins on Nevada's New Health Insurance Website

Nevadans can begin signing up for health insurance on Friday under the state's new online marketplace.

Nevada consumers had been relying for several years on the federal HealthCare.gov website set up under former President Barack Obama's health care law. But state officials decided to transition Nevada this year to a state-run system in order to save money.

The new website, NevadaHealthLink.com, allows people to shop for, compare and sign up for health insurance for 2020.

Nevadans who do not qualify for Medicaid, Medicare or do not have insurance through their employer are eligible to enroll for insurance through Nevada Health Link.

Nevada Health Link has 27 qualified health plans offered through three insurance carriers – Health Plan of Nevada and SilverSummit, which are returning to the Exchange from the previous year, as well as Anthem HMO Co., rejoining the Exchange for Plan Year 2020. All 27 plans will be available to Nevada residents in Clark, Nye and Washoe counties. SilverSummit and Anthem HMO Co. will offer 17 plans to residents in Nevada’s 14 rural counties including Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Elko, Esmeralda, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Lincoln, Lyon, Mineral, Pershing, Storey and White Pine. Six carriers will offer 17 stand-alone dental plans to Nevada residents statewide. They include: Alpha, EMI, Delta, Liberty, Best and Rocky Mountain.

Nevadans have until Dec. 15 to sign up for a plan that will cover them next year.
