Fitness Boot Camp Fundraiser Raises Over $7,000 For Local Woman

Evoke Fitness Center raised just over $7,000 with their boot camp on Saturday for a local mom of three, Leslie McGarry who is a cancer survivor but is now dealing and brain tumors. Last week she had her third brain tumor removed and she is still fighting to live.

To help Leslie with costs of medical bills and finances for her family her gym, Evoke Fitness, held a fundraiser for her, "Our fundraiser is a boot camp, an hour long boot camp with a live DJ and afterwards we will have raffle tickets that you can buy for," says Mena Spodobalski, owner of Evoke Fitness.

McGarry participated in Breast Cancer 2 Bikini last year, a fitness program for cancer survivors or people currently battling cancer. The women train four days a week for six months at Evoke Fitness in hopes to compete in the NPC Nevada State Body Building Figure and Bikini Championships. McGarry participated while battling cancer and undergoing chemo and radiation treatments, "She comes in with a little piece of paper with all the tumors that have been blasted and I'm like 'what are you doing here?' and she goes 'I'm not going to go home and feel sorry for myself I feel fine," recalls Spodobalski.
