The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a flash flood warning for Sierra County and Nevada County in northern California.Â
The warning was issued at 5:17 p.m. and continues until 8:15 p.m.Â
They say radar indicates that thunderstorms are producing heavy rain across the Farad burn scar along I-80. Up to an inch has already fallen and flash flooding is expected.Â
With excessive rain hitting the burn scar, NWS says that this can send debris onto I-80 including rock, mud, vegetation, and other loose material.Â
If you are driving and encounter debris, they say to turn around and/or take an alternate route.Â
