Former U.S. Senator and Nevada Governor Richard Bryan was honored at the University of Nevada today.
The 78-year-old Democrat became the second person in the University's history to have a statue dedicated in his honor. The bronze sculpture depicts Bryan sitting on a bench, reading the school newspaper.
Bryan was elected UNR Student Body President in 1958, and went on to serve as a Public Defender, State Legislator, Attorney General, Governor, and U.S. Senator.
Governor Brian Sandoval and a host of dignitaries joined nearly 200 students, faculty and members of the community to help unveil the statue.
The other person honored in a statue at the university is Comstock Silver Baron John Mackay.
