Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada (GSSN) are gearing up for their 2020 season with the launch of a new cookie.
Lemon-Ups are crispy lemon cookies baked with messages inspired by Girl Scouts.
“I am a go-getter” and “I am an innovator” are among eight phrases you can read before eating the lemon cookie.
“We hope everyone is excited about this year’s new cookie but more importantly, we hope everyone is excited to support thousands of young girls across northern Nevada and northeastern California who are participating in a program that will help them hone the entrepreneurial skills that will help them be successful in many different academic and professional pursuits,” said GSSN Interim CEO Heidi Howe.
Along with the new cookie, Girl Scout cookie favorites will sport new packaging- reflecting those activities Girl Scouts join in on through their membership.
One of the activities Girl Scouts can partake in every year is camp, which girl scouts have to pay for or fundraise for with their cookie sales.
Some Girl Scout families may not be able to send their Girl Scout to camp with money in their own pocket, but there's a win-win in store for Girl Scouts and cookie enthusiasts alike.
Howe says a Girl Scout needs to sell 433 boxes of cookies to pay for camp. The camp teaches girls the necessary tools they need to be a Girl Scout, and grants them the ability to swim in an entrance to the entrepreneurial realm.
