Sandoval says "U.S. Must Maintain Presence in Afghanistan"

Gov. Brian Sandoval

Governor Brian Sandoval issued the following statement today on relief efforts requested from the State of Nevada by FEMA. Requests are ongoing and updates will be provided.

“The State of Nevada stands ready and willing to assist in disaster relief as we have during times of crisis including Hurricane Katrina and the Oroville Dam breech. Nevada Task Force One, which includes a four member and fourteen member team, has been requested and deployed in response to Hurricane Harvey. Representatives of the Nevada Division of Emergency Management will have a discussion today with the Federal Emergency Management Agency regarding additional resources.”

This weekend, the Governor extended his sympathies to the victims of the natural disaster and offered his gratitude to all volunteers and first responders providing assistance to those in harm’s way.

Nevada Task Force 1 is one of 28 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Task Forces that are prepared to respond to state or federal disasters throughout the United States. These task forces, complete with necessary tools and equipment, and required skills and techniques, can be deployed by FEMA for the rescue of victims of structural collapses due to man-made or natural  disasters.

NV TF-1 consists of members from Clark County Fire Department, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, Henderson Fire Department and North Las Vegas Fire Department, as well as civilians from several private companies.
