From the City of Reno:
The City of Reno is bringing the train at Idlewild Park out from winter storage this weekend in time for Washoe County School District's spring break. The train offers a nostalgic ride that chugs through the most scenic parts of the park.
The train will run daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, beginning Saturday, March 29 through Sunday, April 13. From there, it will run on a weekend-only schedule through Memorial Day weekend.
From May 27 through September 1, the train will operate Tuesday through Friday and on state holidays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Weekend hours will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The cost to ride remains $2 per person. Children age 2 and younger can ride for free on the lap of a parent or guardian. Tickets may be purchased on site (cash only).
"This year, the train will feature two rebuilt passenger cars courtesy of a grant from the Pennington Foundation recently approved by City Council," says Parks Manager Jeff Mann.
