Indonesia has halted a mass congregation of nearly 9,000 Muslim pilgrims and begun quarantining them and checking their health to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The move came as it reported six more deaths to 25 and its biggest daily jump of 82 cases to bring the total to 309.
The four-day Islamic gathering wasn't approved by authorities and drew fears it could spread the virus widely in the world's fourth most populous nation.
It was organized by a Muslim missionary movement that recently held a similar mass event in Malaysia that has been linked to hundreds of cases in several countries.
Thousands of Catholics also attended the ordination of a new bishop in Indonesia despite calls to postpone the event.
