The Lyon County Board of Commissioners met Thursday and reversed their decision on the Sage Vista Specific Plan application.
The application proposed a new housing development east of the Copper Canyon estates in Dayton.
In April, the Board of Commissioners held a public hearing for the application and denied it with one nay. Commissioner Dini made the motion to deny in April, finding in part that the application did not promote the desired pattern of growth in Lyon County and it would be detrimental to the public welfare of the county.
Later in April, a petition for judicial review on the denial was filed. The District Attorney and County Manager decided to attempt a negotiated settlement instead of going through the judicial review.
After negotiations, the proposal came back to the Board of Commissioners December 17 and the denial was reversed.
The new proposal plans for over 1,400 homes to be built on 547 acres with room for a school and some businesses.
