One man has been arrested after being discovered burglarizing a business during an art exhibition.
According to a press release, the Reno Police Department was called to Art Indeed! on the 100-block of Bell Street at around 7 p.m. on Thursday. The business was hosting an art exhibition and the owners believed they heard noises in the attic. The owners immediately notified officers, as they did not know who could potentially be in the attic.
Authorities conducted an interior search of the building, which also contained office space for separate businesses. Officers located the suspect, Spencer Lever, in the interior of a locked business. He was detained without incident.
Through their investigation, officials say it appears Lever entered the business under the guise of the exhibit and entered the attic space without detection. He then forced his way through the ceiling of an office, gathered property and exited through the way he gained entry.
Officials say Lever forced his way into another office, also through the ceiling. It was within this office that he was detained. The interior of the business had property strewn about and some property was set aside for apparent removal.
Lever was booked into the Washoe County Jail for the offense of 3 separate counts of burglary.
