Last Saturday on July 17, the Reno Police Department responded to the Tahoe Motel on East Fourth Street for the report of a deceased person.
Officials said the subject had been in one of the rooms for the past few days.
Detectives from the Robbery Homicide Unit responded to investigate.
The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as 62-year-old Gary Spangler. His hometown is unknown.
The ME's Office says his manner of death was homicide. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the torso.
Detectives are investigating the case as a murder.
