CAL Fire says that the massive Carr fire is 100% contained. The fire burned a total of 229,651 acres.
It claimed the lives of three people and destroyed 1,079 homes, 22 commercial buildings and 503 other structures.
A total of 456 personnel worked together to put out this blaze that sparked on July 23. They say the cause is "Mechanical Failure of a Vehicle."
CAL Fire officials say that although full containment has been achieved, firefighters will continue to patrol the fire area for several days and fire suppression repair remains ongoing.
California fire officials say the 229,651 acre Carr Fire near Redding is now 94% contained.Â
The wildfire started July 23rd near Highway 299 and Carr Powerhouse Road and has since destroyed 1,079 homes.
There's still no estimate on full containment.Â
A donation drive is being held in Reno this weekend to help victims of the fire.Â
CAL FIRE says heavy equipment mechanic Andrew Jason Brake died last Thursday in a crash on Highway 99 in Tehama County.
Authorities previously arrested two people on suspicion of looting homes that had been evacuated due to the Carr Fire.
Authorities say the cause of this fire is due to mechanical failure of a car.
