Jackson is thrilled to have joined the 2 News Nevada team in January of 2026 as their newest meteorologist.
Jackson first received his education at Texas A&M University, where he graduated in May of 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology.
He went on to further his education at Mississippi State University, where he graduated in May of 2023 with a Master of Science in Meteorology with a broadcasting concentration and a minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Jackson's broadcast journey started during his graduate studies at a local TV station in northeast Mississippi. A memorable part of his early broadcasting career was team coverage of numerous tornado outbreaks.
After graduating, he made a stop in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, for 2½ years, where he learned some fundamentals of forecasting winter weather before landing in Reno.
The impact of some of the high-magnitude events Jackson has covered is not lost on him and is a reminder of the importance of accurate and detailed forecasting.
Of all the different aspects that make up Mother Nature, terrain and snow have always been the most intellectually stimulating to Jackson and made moving to Northern Nevada an easy choice. He hopes to learn the intricacies of heavy snowfall events in the Sierra via an atmospheric river, in addition to more specific subjects such as avalanche prediction and wildfire forecasting.
The mountains are where he feels most at home, and you can find Jackson at many of the big ski resorts around Lake Tahoe in the winter. You can also find him hiking and traveling in his off time.
